Stainless steel SMT stencil aligned over a bare circuit board with solder paste being printed

Order the stencil from the same data as the boards.

Illuminious is a U.S. NPI engineering company. Ordering the stencil alongside the boards cuts it from the same fabrication data, which removes the revision mismatch that a separately-sourced stencil invites. Engineered in San Francisco. Prototype builds, DFM and mass production in our own factory in Shenzhen. Upload your files, get a free engineering review, and pay only the official quote that review publishes.

When the stencil and the boards come from one fabrication package, the apertures and the pads describe the same design revision. That only holds when both orders point at the same files, and this route makes that link explicit.

Two ways in: configure it online and a specialist prepares your official quote within 24 hours on business days, or send the job to an engineer. Engineering review is free either way and comes before you pay.

The configurator opens with this configuration preselected. An engineer reviews every order. Account required; engineering review is free and comes before payment.

What does ordering the stencil with the boards actually prevent?

  • New assemblies where boards and tooling are needed together
  • Design revisions where the stencil must not lag the board
  • Teams who want one project record covering both orders
  • First builds where aperture and pad data must provably match
Typical orders
One stencil per board revision is the usual pattern; additional foils per line are priced per unit.
Accepted files
The paste layers from the same fabrication package you are using for the boards. Upload the full archive if that is easier; review identifies the paste layers and confirms them with you.

The choices that decide the part.

Each of these is a real configuration decision with a cost and a consequence, not a feature list. Where one of them constrains another, engineering review is the step that resolves it.

One design revision

Cutting the foil from the same package that fabricates the boards is the only reliable way to guarantee the apertures match the pads. Any other route is a version-control problem waiting to happen.

Two projects, one record

Reference the board project when you request the official stencil quote. Both stay under your account with their own file revisions, so review can see which board revision the foil belongs to.

Assembly-aware choices

If Illuminious is also assembling the boards, say so: it changes whether you need the foil at all, and review will tell you rather than sell you one.

Construction and treatment

Frame type, thickness, side, step regions, coating, fiducials, and engraving are configured exactly as for a standalone foil.

What the configurator accepts, and where review takes over.

Stencil with a PCB order capability bounds
ParameterSupported range
ConstructionFrameless, framed, or custom frame. Frame sizes of 20 × 20, 23 × 23, and 29 × 29 in, or a custom size that routes to review.
Foil size and quantity20–1000 mm width and height, 1–1000 stencils per line.
Foil thickness0.08, 0.10, 0.12, 0.15, or 0.18 mm, or 'engineer selected' if you would rather we choose it against your aperture set.
Aperture sideTop, bottom, top and bottom on one foil, or separate top and bottom foils.
TreatmentStep-stencil regions and nano coating are per-line options. Application is solder paste or adhesive/red glue.
Registration and markingFiducials as none, half-cut, or through-cut, plus optional engraved text and production-file confirmation.
Data sourceThe paste layers of the fabrication package used for the boards. Review confirms the revision match before cutting.
Revision alignmentConfirmed in review. If the board data moves, the foil is re-reviewed rather than quietly cut from stale data.

The configuration options are identical to a standalone stencil. What this route adds is the revision check — free, and worth more than any option on the list.

Boundaries

  • The stencil and the boards are separate orders in the portal today; this page explains how to keep them aligned, not a bundled checkout
  • If the board data changes after the stencil is priced, the stencil needs a new revision too, and review will say so
  • Aperture feasibility is still reviewed independently of the board order

How is a stencil priced alongside a board order?

Quotation by a specialist. Quotation within 24 hours on business days. A specialist prices your exact SMT Stencil scope from your files and specifications. You submit your request online, and the quotation arrives in your account and by email. Review is free. Nothing is charged until you accept a quotation.
  • Foil dimensions, usable area, and quantity
  • Frame type and frame size
  • Foil thickness and aperture side configuration
  • Step regions, nano coating, fiducials, and engraving
  • Packaging, setup, and requested lead time

What engineering reviews

Customer approvals may include

  • Any engineer-recommended aperture change
  • The production file, when you requested confirmation
  • Any itemized price or lead-time revision
  • That the paste layers belong to the same design revision as the board order
  • Aperture area ratio and bridge risk against the selected foil thickness
  • Whether the assembly scope makes a customer-supplied foil unnecessary
  • Fine-pitch and BGA regions that may need a step or coating
  • Frame size and usable area against your printer

Free review first. Keep every later decision explicit.

Name the related board project in the stencil project description. Review reads it and confirms in writing that the foil and the boards describe the same revision before either goes to production.

  1. Create your account

Verify your email before the persistent quote workspace opens. Every file, estimate, message, and payment stays attached to that account.

  2. Configure and upload

Provide service-specific inputs and place technical files in private project storage. Saved drafts remain available across sessions.

  3. Free engineering review

Submit the configured cart at no charge. A reviewer checks the exact file and specification revision, then prices it or opens a documented question or correction request.

  4. Official quote

Review publishes an itemized quote with lead time and a validity window. That is the binding figure; anything shown earlier was a preliminary estimate.

  5. Accept and pay

Accepting opens payment rather than charging you. Lead time is counted from settled payment, and any later itemized revision needs your approval first.

  6. Produce and deliver

After all commercial, technical, and customer gates are complete, the project moves through the service-specific production or design milestones.

Commitments the order system actually enforces.

Official quote prepared by a specialist and engineering review

Your official quote is prepared by a specialist within 24 hours on business days for the declared foil. Review then confirms the paste layers match the board revision you are fabricating — the single check that makes ordering both together worth doing.

Paste data stays private

Gerber and DXF uploads live in per-project storage reached through short-lived authenticated links. Replacement data creates a new revision instead of overwriting the one that was priced.

Review target

Stencil projects are targeted for review one business day after you submit them. Review is free and precedes the official price.

Answers before you upload anything.

Can I order the boards and the stencil in one checkout?

Not today — they are separate service routes in the portal. What you can do is reference the board project when you request the official stencil quote, and review confirms the revision match before either is released. We would rather be plain about that than imply a bundle that does not exist yet.

If Illuminious assembles the boards, do I still need a stencil?

Usually not for our own line. Order one when you are assembling in-house, running a second line, or want a spare. Say what you intend in the project notes and review will tell you honestly whether the foil earns its cost.

Is the amount at checkout final?

The free engineering review comes first. Depending on the service you see a live supplier price, a published fixed price, or a price from a specialist within 24 hours on business days, and nothing is charged when you submit. After the review we publish an official quote with an itemized total, lead time and a validity window, and that is the amount you are asked to pay. Accepting the official quote opens payment rather than charging you. If a later correction changes scope or price, you see an itemized revision and can approve, question or decline it. We never silently charge an increase.

How is my paste data protected?

Your technical files are stored in private project storage and accessed through short-lived authenticated links. Files, prices, replacements and approvals stay tied to your account and keep their revision history.

Get the official stencil quote and reference your board project.

Upload the paste layers from the same package, name the related board project, and review confirms the revision match before the official price.

Three lead-time tiers, each with its trade on the line: Economy lengthens the quoted target range and takes a discount line; Standard is the quoted target range at the quoted price; Express shortens it and adds an expedite line. You see the line before you commit, and every range is a target, not a promise.

  1. An engineer runs a free engineering review of your files, and nothing is charged when you submit.
  2. You see the findings first.
  3. We publish the official quote with an itemized total, lead time and validity window.
  4. You accept the official quote, and only then does payment open.
