Five-axis CNC machine cutting an aluminum component

Order CNC machined parts and see what actually drives the cost.

Illuminious is a U.S. NPI engineering company. CNC Machining covers milling, turning and mill-turn work with controlled surface finish, inspection and material certification, configured online from a STEP model. Engineered in San Francisco. Prototype builds, DFM and mass production in our own factory in Shenzhen. Upload your files, get a free engineering review, and pay only the official quote that review publishes.

Upload a STEP model and a drawing, then set material, tolerance, finish, threads and inspection. Every review decision stays attached to the part revision you approve.

Two ways in: configure it online and a specialist prepares your official quote within 24 hours on business days, or send the job to an engineer. Engineering review is free either way and comes before you pay.

An engineer reviews every order. Account required before the persistent configurator opens. Engineering review is free and comes before payment, and payment does not authorize production.

Is CNC machining the right route for your part?

  • Precision prototypes
  • Milled and turned components
  • Cosmetic enclosures and hardware
  • Low- to mid-volume controlled production
Typical orders
Single prototypes through repeat production quantities, dependent on geometry, material, and process review.
Source files
STEP/STP model; dimensioned 2D drawing before production for nonstandard requirements.
Accepted formats
ZIP, RAR, 7Z, PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, TXT, STEP, STP, IGES, IGS, STL, OBJ, 3MF, SLDPRT, SLDASM, X_T, X_B, IPT, IAM, DXF, DWG

A shared order lifecycle with service-specific depth.

The configurator collects the factors that drive a responsible preliminary amount. Engineering then reviews the exact source revision, assumptions, and approvals that control release.

Process and stock

Describe milling, turning, mill-turn, EDM, or engineer-selected processing with material and quantity.

Setup complexity

Capture the stock envelope, finished volume, setup count, access, deep features, and critical datums.

Tolerance and features

Identify the tightest tolerance, threads, inserts, thin walls, pockets, fits, and inspection datums.

Finish and evidence

Define as-machined, anodized, bead-blasted, coated, plated, or other finish together with appearance and inspection expectations.

What can you configure for CNC machining?

These are the ranges the CNC Machining configurator accepts. Anything outside them is still orderable — it goes to an engineer through the outlined path instead of through the form.

CNC Machining configurator bounds
ParameterAccepted range
Quantity1–100,000 parts
Envelope width0.1–2,500.0 mm
Envelope height0.1–2,500.0 mm
Envelope depth0.1–2,500.0 mm
Finished part volume0.01–1,000,000.00 cm³

How is a CNC machining price built?

Lead time, and what each tier trades

Economy
A longer target lead time than Standard, for work that is not on a deadline. Takes a discount line off the price, never below the service minimum, shown before you commit.
Standard
The lead-time range quoted for your configuration, counted from approved files. No schedule charge. It is the price you were quoted.
Express
Shortens the standard range where the process and the queue allow it. Adds an expedite line, priced on your own configuration and shown before you commit.
  • Stock envelope, removed-volume proxy, process, setup count, material, and quantity
  • Tool access, thin walls, deep pockets, threads, inserts, and critical datums
  • Tolerance class, appearance grade, finish, and masking
  • Inspection, certification, packaging, and requested lead time
Quotation by a specialist. Quotation within 24 hours on business days. A specialist prices your exact CNC Machining scope from your files and specifications. You submit your request online, and the quotation arrives in your account and by email. Review is free. Nothing is charged until you accept a quotation.

What engineering reviews

Customer approvals may include

  • Any manufacturability-driven geometry or tolerance exception
  • Material or finish alternative
  • Official revised amount and production drawing interpretation
  • Model/drawing agreement and datum scheme
  • Tool access, setups, wall thickness, pocket depth, and distortion risk
  • Tolerance, thread, insert, fit, and surface-finish requirements
  • Material availability, inspection plan, and cosmetic acceptance

Free review first. Keep every later decision explicit.

  1. Create your account

Verify your email before the persistent quote workspace opens. Every file, estimate, message, and payment stays attached to that account.

  2. Configure and upload

Provide service-specific inputs and place technical files in private project storage. Saved drafts remain available across sessions.

  3. Free engineering review

Submit the configured cart at no charge. A reviewer checks the exact file and specification revision, then prices it or opens a documented question or correction request.

  4. Official quote

Review publishes an itemized quote with lead time and a validity window. That is the binding figure; anything shown earlier was a preliminary estimate.

  5. Accept and pay

Accepting opens payment rather than charging you. Lead time is counted from settled payment, and any later itemized revision needs your approval first.

  6. Produce and deliver

After all commercial, technical, and customer gates are complete, the project moves through the service-specific production or design milestones.

What this service is intended to produce.

Machined parts with approved material, process, tolerance, finish, inspection evidence, and revision-safe model/drawing history.

Protected and traceable by default

Private files, immutable revisions, authenticated approvals, itemized commercial changes, and customer-visible history are part of the order system rather than a loose email trail.

Boundaries

  • The 3D model alone does not define all tolerances
  • Deep pockets, thin walls, and complex access require review
  • Cosmetic expectations need explicit surface evidence

Answers before you start the workspace.

Do I need both a 3D model and a drawing?

A STEP/STP model is required for a machining price. Provide a dimensioned drawing before production when tolerances, threads, datums, finishes, masking, inspection or notes go beyond what the model defines.

Can cosmetic requirements be priced?

Yes, but specify appearance grade, finish, protected surfaces, acceptable tool marks, color or texture references, and inspection method. Review confirms whether the evidence is sufficient.

Is the official quote final?

The free engineering review comes first. Depending on the service you see a live supplier price, a published fixed price, or a price from a specialist within 24 hours on business days, and nothing is charged when you submit. After the review we publish an official quote with an itemized total, lead time and a validity window, and that is the amount you are asked to pay. Accepting the official quote opens payment rather than charging you. If a later correction changes scope or price, you see an itemized revision and can approve, question or decline it. We never silently charge an increase.

How are my CAD files protected?

Your technical files are stored in private project storage and accessed through short-lived authenticated links. Files, prices, replacements and approvals stay tied to your account and keep their revision history.

Get an official quote for CNC Machining in your private workspace.

Your account preserves drafts, uploads, assumptions, quotation requests, payments, review questions, and approvals in one project record. An engineer reviews every order.

  1. An engineer runs a free engineering review of your files, and nothing is charged when you submit.
  2. You see the findings first.
  3. We publish the official quote with an itemized total, lead time and validity window.
  4. You accept the official quote, and only then does payment open.
