Order sheet metal parts from a flat pattern an engineer checks first.

Illuminious is a U.S. NPI engineering company. Sheet Metal Fabrication covers laser cutting, forming, welding, hardware installation and finishing, configured online from a model or a flat DXF. Engineered in San Francisco. Prototype builds, DFM and mass production in our own factory in Shenzhen. Upload your files, get a free engineering review, and pay only the official quote that review publishes.

Describe material, thickness, bends, welds, hardware and finish for enclosures and brackets. An engineer checks the flat pattern and formability before production is released.

Two ways in: configure it online and a specialist prepares your official quote within 24 hours on business days, or send the job to an engineer. Engineering review is free either way and comes before you pay.

An engineer reviews every order. Account required before the persistent configurator opens. Engineering review is free and comes before payment, and payment does not authorize production.

Is sheet metal fabrication the right route for your part?

  • Flat laser-cut parts
  • Bent brackets and panels
  • Welded enclosures
  • Hardware-installed sheet-metal assemblies
Typical orders
Prototype enclosures and parts through repeat production, subject to model and drawing review.
Source files
STEP/STP plus a dimensioned drawing before production; DXF is accepted for flat-only parts.
Accepted formats
ZIP, RAR, 7Z, PDF, PNG, JPG, JPEG, TXT, STEP, STP, IGES, IGS, STL, OBJ, 3MF, SLDPRT, SLDASM, X_T, X_B, IPT, IAM, DXF, DWG
Payment basis

A shared order lifecycle with service-specific depth.

The configurator collects the factors that drive a responsible preliminary amount. Engineering then reviews the exact source revision, assumptions, and approvals that control release.

Material and product

Configure aluminum, steel, stainless, copper, or brass with thickness, quantity, and flat, bent, welded, or assembly scope.

Cut and form

Describe envelope, flat pattern, bend count, bend complexity, holes, cutouts, hems, louvers, and forming intent.

Join and install

Add weld length, weld type, tapped holes, inserts, PEM hardware, fasteners, and assembly needs.

Finish and inspect

Define finish, masking, marking, appearance grade, tolerance, dimensional report, and packaging.

What can you configure for sheet metal fabrication?

These are the ranges the Sheet Metal configurator accepts. Anything outside them is still orderable — it goes to an engineer through the outlined path instead of through the form.

Sheet Metal Fabrication configurator bounds
ParameterAccepted range
Sheet thickness0.3–25.0 mm
Quantity1–100,000 parts
Envelope width1–3,000 mm
Envelope height1–3,000 mm
Bend count0–200 bends
Envelope depth0–3,000 mm
Profile cut length0–1,000,000 mm
Flat-pattern area0–90,000 cm²

Detail pages for each Sheet Metal route.

Each one covers the capability bounds, the pricing factors, and what engineering checks for that specific process or ordering context — and opens the configurator with it already selected.

How is a sheet metal price built?

Lead time, and what each tier trades

Economy
A longer target lead time than Standard, for work that is not on a deadline. Takes a discount line off the price, never below the service minimum, shown before you commit.
Standard
The lead-time range quoted for your configuration, counted from approved files. No schedule charge. It is the price you were quoted.
Express
Shortens the standard range where the process and the queue allow it. Adds an expedite line, priced on your own configuration and shown before you commit.
  • Material family, thickness, area or weight proxy, quantity, and cutting length
  • Bends, complex forming, weld length, tapping, inserts, and installed hardware
  • Finish, masking, marking, appearance, and secondary assembly
  • Tolerance, inspection, packaging, and requested lead time
Quotation by a specialist. Quotation within 24 hours on business days. A specialist prices your exact Sheet Metal scope from your files and specifications. You submit your request online, and the quotation arrives in your account and by email. Review is free. Nothing is charged until you accept a quotation.

What engineering reviews

Customer approvals may include

  • Any bend, weld, hardware, or tolerance exception
  • Material or finish alternative
  • Official drawing interpretation and any price revision
  • Model/drawing agreement, flat pattern, bend radii, relief, and forming access
  • Welds, distortion, joints, hardware, taps, and assembly sequence
  • Tolerance, cosmetic surfaces, finish, masking, and marking
  • Inspection, packaging, and any production drawing exception

Free review first. Keep every later decision explicit.

  1. Create your account

Verify your email before the persistent quote workspace opens. Every file, estimate, message, and payment stays attached to that account.

  2. Configure and upload

Provide service-specific inputs and place technical files in private project storage. Saved drafts remain available across sessions.

  3. Free engineering review

Submit the configured cart at no charge. A reviewer checks the exact file and specification revision, then prices it or opens a documented question or correction request.

  4. Official quote

Review publishes an itemized quote with lead time and a validity window. That is the binding figure; anything shown earlier was a preliminary estimate.

  5. Accept and pay

Accepting opens payment rather than charging you. Lead time is counted from settled payment, and any later itemized revision needs your approval first.

  6. Produce and deliver

After all commercial, technical, and customer gates are complete, the project moves through the service-specific production or design milestones.

What this service is intended to produce.

Fabricated sheet-metal parts or assemblies with approved material, forming, joining, hardware, finish, inspection, and drawing history.

Protected and traceable by default

Private files, immutable revisions, authenticated approvals, itemized commercial changes, and customer-visible history are part of the order system rather than a loose email trail.

Boundaries

  • Bend allowance and flat pattern are review items
  • Weld and cosmetic requirements need explicit definition
  • Finish masking, inserts, and hardware can change the official amount

Answers before you start the workspace.

Which file is required for sheet-metal work?

Upload a STEP/STP model and a dimensioned drawing for formed, welded, tolerance-critical or cosmetic parts. A DXF is enough to request a price for flat laser-cut parts.

Can you install hardware and produce enclosures?

Yes. Specify tapped holes, inserts, PEM hardware, fasteners, welding, assembly, finish masking, markings, and inspection. Review confirms the production method and official amount.

What may change after checkout?

The free engineering review comes first. Depending on the service you see a live supplier price, a published fixed price, or a price from a specialist within 24 hours on business days, and nothing is charged when you submit. After the review we publish an official quote with an itemized total, lead time and a validity window, and that is the amount you are asked to pay. Accepting the official quote opens payment rather than charging you. If a later correction changes scope or price, you see an itemized revision and can approve, question or decline it. We never silently charge an increase.

How are model and drawing revisions handled?

A replacement creates a new file revision. Review, commercial changes, and production approval reference the exact revision used.
