Monitor displaying a dense PCB layout with routed traces beside a bare prototype board

New PCB layout, with placement approved before a single track is routed.

Illuminious is a U.S. NPI engineering company. New PCB layout takes your schematic, footprints and constraints and produces placement, routing and the output package, with placement approved before a track is routed. Engineered in San Francisco. Prototype builds, DFM and mass production in our own factory in Shenzhen. Upload your files, get a free engineering review, and pay only the official quote that review publishes.

You supply the schematic and the constraints. Our engineers place the parts and route the board. Placement comes to you for approval first, because routing a placement you would have changed wastes a week of everyone's work.

Configure it online, or send the job to an engineer. Online, you get a live supplier price, a published tier, or an official quote prepared by a specialist within 24 hours on business days, depending on the service. Engineering review is free either way and comes before you pay.

The configurator opens with this configuration preselected. An engineer reviews every order. Account required; engineering review is free and comes before payment.

Do you need a new layout, or a modification to an existing one?

  • A completed schematic that needs a board
  • Teams without in-house layout capacity
  • Designs with mechanical, thermal, or high-speed constraints worth writing down
  • Projects that will be fabricated and assembled afterwards
Typical orders
One layout per project, delivered through placement and routing approval milestones.
Accepted files
A layout requirements document, the schematic and its source archive, and the footprints and datasheets you have. Mechanical DXF, BOM, and reference material upload to the same project.

The choices that decide the part.

Each of these is a real configuration decision with a cost and a consequence, not a feature list. Where one of them constrains another, engineering review is the step that resolves it.

Board class

Rigid, flex, HDI, RF/high-speed, or power. Every class except rigid routes to engineering review, because each brings constraints that change how long the layout takes.

Inputs and tools

Altium, KiCad, EasyEDA, Cadence, or another tool we convert. Whether footprints are supplied complete, partially, or need creating is a priced field, and it is frequently the largest single variable.

Constraints

High-speed, RF, controlled impedance, high current or power, thermal, creepage and clearance, and dense BGA are declared per project, alongside written placement, connector, and keepout notes.

Outputs

EDA source, Gerbers, BOM and CPL, DXF, assembly and fabrication PDFs, 3D model, and production instructions, each selected explicitly so the deliverable list is agreed before work starts.

Layout is priced on scope rather than geometry, so the requirements document does more work than any other field. Review reads it before the price becomes official, which is why that review is free and comes first.

Boundaries

  • This service is placement and routing. Schematic design and schematic modification are a different conversation; tell us and we will scope it separately
  • Reverse engineering and board cloning are out of scope
  • Circuit simulation and signal-integrity analysis are not included unless separately scoped in review
  • Fabrication and assembly are separate orders unless explicitly bundled

How is a new layout project scoped and priced?

Fixed tiers. Engineering review is free and happens before payment, so nothing is charged to reach this figure. Priced from our three published PCB Layout tiers — Starter, Standard, and Premium — confirmed by a specialist during review. Scope is confirmed during review, and the official quote is what you are asked to pay.
  • Pad count, layer count, board size, and component sides
  • Board class and the constraints declared against it
  • Footprint completeness and any footprint creation work
  • Requested output set and the number of approval milestones
  • EDA tool or conversion, and requested delivery time

What engineering reviews

Customer approvals may include

  • Placement, at the placement milestone, before any routing begins
  • Routing, at the routing milestone, before final files are generated
  • Any itemized price or lead-time revision
  • Whether the schematic is complete and its footprints are consistent with it
  • Whether the requirements document actually constrains the layout or leaves it open
  • Mechanical inputs: outline, mounting, connector positions, and keepouts
  • Declared constraints against the stack-up and layer count
  • Whether the requested outputs are producible from the chosen EDA workflow
  • Where the placement and routing approval gates should sit for this design

Free review first. Keep every later decision explicit.

Layout runs on milestones, not one delivery: requirements received, scope and price reviewed, payment settled, placement ready, placement revisions, placement approved, routing ready, routing revisions, routing approved, final package delivered. Routing does not begin until placement is approved.

  1. Create your account

Verify your email before the persistent quote workspace opens. Every file, estimate, message, and payment stays attached to that account.

  2. Configure and upload

Provide service-specific inputs and place technical files in private project storage. Saved drafts remain available across sessions.

  3. Free engineering review

Submit the configured cart at no charge. A reviewer checks the exact file and specification revision, then prices it or opens a documented question or correction request.

  4. Official quote

Review publishes an itemized quote with lead time and a validity window. That is the binding figure; anything shown earlier was a preliminary estimate.

  5. Accept and pay

Accepting opens payment rather than charging you. Lead time is counted from settled payment, and any later itemized revision needs your approval first.

  6. Produce and deliver

After all commercial, technical, and customer gates are complete, the project moves through the service-specific production or design milestones.

Commitments the order system actually enforces.

Price, then engineering review

The online figure prices the declared scope. A designer then reads the schematic and requirements and confirms the scope, or tells you what is missing, before the price becomes official.

Source files stay private

Schematics, source archives, and every deliverable revision live in per-project storage reached through short-lived authenticated links, tied to your account.

Review target

Layout projects are targeted for scope review two business days after you submit them. Review is free and precedes the official price.

Answers before you upload anything.

What do I need before starting a layout project?

A complete schematic with footprints, and a written statement of what the board has to fit into and work with. Mechanical outline, connector positions, keepouts, thermal expectations, and any high-speed or high-voltage constraint. A vague brief is the most common reason a layout takes longer than it should.

Why is placement approved before routing?

Because routing is the expensive part, and it is built on top of placement. Approving placement first means a change costs you a review comment rather than a re-route. It is the single most useful gate in the whole workflow.

Will you design the schematic too?

Not under this service — it covers placement and routing from a schematic you supply. If you need schematic work as well, say so when you start the project and review will scope it separately rather than quietly folding it in.

Is the amount at checkout final?

The free engineering review comes first. Depending on the service you see a live supplier price, a published fixed price, or a price from a specialist within 24 hours on business days, and nothing is charged when you submit. After the review we publish an official quote with an itemized total, lead time and a validity window, and that is the amount you are asked to pay. Accepting the official quote opens payment rather than charging you. If a later correction changes scope or price, you see an itemized revision and can approve, question or decline it. We never silently charge an increase.

Who owns the output files?

You do. The deliverable set you select — including the EDA source when you request it — is released to your account on completion, and every revision stays readable in the project history.

How is my schematic protected?

Your technical files are stored in private project storage and accessed through short-lived authenticated links. Files, prices, replacements and approvals stay tied to your account and keep their revision history.

Start a layout project with the new-layout service already selected.

Upload the schematic and requirements, choose your outputs and approval milestones, and a designer reviews the scope before the price becomes official.

Three lead-time tiers, each with its trade on the line: Economy lengthens the quoted target range and takes a discount line; Standard is the quoted target range at the quoted price; Express shortens it and adds an expedite line. You see the line before you commit, and every range is a target, not a promise.

  1. An engineer runs a free engineering review of your files, and nothing is charged when you submit.
  2. You see the findings first.
  3. We publish the official quote with an itemized total, lead time and validity window.
  4. You accept the official quote, and only then does payment open.
